Did all the development that was built up in the previous 9 pages all happen in the last 5 pages through a very vague explanation? Yes. Is Lucy, Jules, and Tilda finding periods (yes I said it) something to hide from boys yet to be proud of problematic? The hiding-from-boys parts yes. Are the besties (mainly Lucy) obsessed with finding a date to prom teaching girls, the obvious target audience of the books, that they need a date to attend prom or else it’s embarrassing, not ok? Yes. Is Lucy’s oblivious behavior and Simon’s not totally clear behavior really annoying to read? Frickin’ yes. Did I still read till the end to know if they got together and Lucy got her Q? Yes obviously.
Do I recommend this to very-nearly-teenagers or very actual teenagers? No. The message and ideas that the books are telling are not something they should read, that’s coming from a very actual teenager who was affected by these ideas.
P.S at this point, the most relatable character was Lucy’s mom.
