While reading this book, I kept getting frustrated by Tate's choices. She was emotion-focused and motivated by selfish desires. It killed me every time she made a choice that was so clearly wrong, rationalizing that they were good decisions, then I remembered that she's a teenager and her thoughts and actions were exactly how a teenager in love would act. It made sense. It was a good book, but departed to focus mainly on the romance aspect unlike the previous books.

Oh, Suzanne, Suzanne -
going to bed in tears now, thanks for the most devastating Program book yet.
no release date for book six?
crying just a little bit harder now.

AND

(the official review, from the April edition of Romantic Times Book Reviews online, in which I gave this 4 1/2 stars, TOP PICK: https://www.rtbookreviews.com/book-review/adjustment)

Tatum’s terrifying story is the most devastating Program novel yet, as Young keeps readers, as well as her fiercely determined protagonist, in the dark until the very end, dropping a harrowing revelation and a cliffhanger that guarantees a greater nightmare to come. Identity and control continue to be central themes of this series, but the emotional intensity of the adolescent characters is what will keep readers turning the pages. This can be read as a stand-alone, but will have greater resonance with readers familiar with the series.

While The Program no longer exists, the aftereffects are heartbreaking, as returners break down, shells of their former teenage selves, with no way to recover their memories — or is there? Nothing has prepared Tatum Masteron for her boyfriend Wes’ return, and when she hears about the Adjustment, her hopes rise higher than her fears. As a memory donor, she has an integral role in his recovery, but is the prospect of restoring their relationship worth risking his life?

This series became a favorite of mine almost immediately after starting the first book. It gripped me from day one and still has not let go. I love the storyline, the characters, the fact that every two books are different characters and different parts of one overall plot. There is absolutely nothing about this series that has turned me off from it. And this one is definitely 100% my favorite of the 5 already published. It has become way too easy for me to figure out where a story is headed and I am very rarely surprised but I did not see the plot twist in this book coming at all. My jaw dropped and has yet to be replaced. The wait for the final book is going to be very painful.
