One of my favorite tropes is friends to lovers. Lovely and Obi were swoon worthy. Their friendship...the unrequited love. Everything about this story hit all the right spots. Very well written and really cute storyline.

I read Something Deeper and immediately fell in love with the way Ivy Laika writes. Her characters and the story had me mesmerized, and it was written beautifully. That's why I'm surprised that I didn't like this story--The One I Love--as much. The extensive grammatical errors--misused, misspelled, and missing words--caught me off guard. This book needed some serious editing/proofreading that just couldn't be overlooked.

I did like the premise of the story because I just love a good friends-to-lovers romance. Obi and Lovely were adorable, sexy, and both had good hearts. I was rooting for them because they had such a beautiful friendship and always seem to put each other first. I do think that Lovely overreacted a little when she found out one of her sisters told Obi a secret, but I do understand why she felt betrayed. And I was also under the impression that Obi and Lovely were always just platonic friends who had never worked up the courage to tell each other that they were in love with one another. Imagine my surprise when the author took us on a trip down memory lane towards the end of the story. I wish I could have gotten some dialogue between Obi and Lovely on that issue.
