Sharp and biting, but tender at times. Not the best, but so glad it exists.

Set of stories exploring sexuality and the Puerto Rican community opinions through honest, sparse stories from all perspectives. There's the gossipy mothers lamenting the rise of gay people, the gay men dealing with aids - and stories that explore the complexity of this world even deeper.
Short, quick stories.

These nine stories reveal the intimate lives of the LGBTQIA+ community in Puerto Rico. Each story stands alone, though small details from one story bleed into another – it might be a narrative thread, a character circumstance, or a tit-bit about a town. I found the stories entertaining, if a little heartbreaking, and they hold together well as a collection because of the interweaving. The stories have various textures, in voice and style – one is composed as a series of increasingly desperate notes from a protagonist seeking payment for curtains, another is a dialogue between two neighbours over a fence. Individually, my favourites were: 'So Many', 'Junito', and 'The Garden'.

Um... I really, really loved the first story but others were difficult to understand... I felt like I lacked something to appreciate them
