Following “A Touch of Darkness” and “A Game of Fate,” this one had kind of a rough start as it showed Persephone at her most annoying. I found myself frustrated that she kept making the same mistakes and refused to listen to the advice given to her multiple times by people who genuinely loved her and wanted what’s best for her. On top of that, for over half the book it felt like she couldn’t fail—like no matter how bad her choices were, she would never truly have to face the consequences. Hades or someone else would swoop in to save her.

But in the end, she does fail and she does have to face the consequences of her choices. And that’s when we see her grow.

Overall, this series has been like a trash tv show one watches not because it’s good TV, but because the drama is like a train wreck you can’t stop looking at. It’s entertaining, for sure, but I might have DNF’d this one if I hadn’t read far enough to start seeing Persephone grow (that’s how annoying she was in the first half).

There are also some plot points I didn’t think were necessary, and there is A LOT of spice. I personally felt like some of the spice was unnecessary, but Persephone and Hades are Greek gods, so how else did we really expect them to behave?

If you’re a romance/romantasy girlie or you like dramatic, romance driven shows like the Bachelor, Bridgerton, etc., you’ll enjoy this.

Ahhh…this series has so much potential. Persephone’s internal monologue is pretty superficial and grating at times. Still a good light fast read with mild spice. I just can’t stand her reactions sometimes.

The sheer amount of sex in this book is ridiculous. I know they are divine, but come on. No one has sex that much. Persephone's obtuseness and immaturity was pretty frustrating throughout most of the book.

???? there's like 7 plots in one book and none of it makes sense and it reads like a soap opera and and and .

okay i was so disappointed by this book. extremely. everything reads like a ff.net fic. and honestly i'm not shy to cringe!!! but this was ridiculous. the spicy scenes are even worse than the first book, i skipped most of them. there's also just way too many of them i cant even be bothered. all in all, i did not like this book's plot. BUTTT.....

some of the new characters introduced saved this story for me like the background characters are everything. hermes is everything to me. horny bastard. i love him dearly. hecate my sweet baby girl.

totally skippable tbh. unless you're like me and can't leave a series unfinished.
