dense with references, but there are some truly great ideas in here. i’m also in my self-proclaimed “embracing my inner snob” era so of course this book resonated with me.

An impassioned defence of pretentiousness! Beautifully crafted and lovingly researched. This book has changed my understanding of pretence and has inspired me to be braver when it comes to "reaching above my station." It makes me want to experiment and take risks and fail and look pretentious and try again.
