I read this book when I was in the fifth grade. I was struggling to read books in my grade level and my teacher figured out that I have dyslexia. He asked me to read one book that year to prove that I could actually read at a fifth grade level. To this day I still remember where this book was in the library and what it looked like. I was drawn to the dark red cloth cover with the gold print. Once I starting reading, I didn't want to put this book down. I finished it in just a couple weeks. My teacher was proud and impressed. I started that year at a second/third grade reading level and ended at a sixth grade reading level.

Who didn't want to sleep in a boxcar and keep milk inside a waterfall?

Some of the first books I ever read and by that I mean read because I wanted to read them. I think the only book I read before these was Charlotte's Web.

I remembered loving these books when I was a kid, so I started the firs tin the series with Jon. He seemed to enjoy it. It is a bit more basic than some of the other books we have read so I think he found it easier to follow, but I also think that he wasn't as captivated by the story. We will see if hr wants to read any more.

My son read this for summer reading and I wanted to read it again. I loved this series in childhood and remembered it very differently. Still a nice, cozy children’s book though.
