Disliked - Forced myself to finish. The book was problematic for me in terms of connecting with both main characters Archer and Max AND the storyline. I kept reading because I was mildly curious at some points which kept pushing me to finish the book.

Archer and Mac spent most of book bumping uglies at expense of a storyline that was more or less a regurgitation of another book in the series.

Still enjoyable but a weaker entry in the Necessary Evils series. Since Mac and Archer knew each other before this book, the reader never got to see that initial meeting, we were just told about it and their subsequent hookups until they had to work together. Since that first meeting was apparently pivotal in their relationship, not seeing it lost the impact for me. The school was confusing to get dropped into also. Just felt like there were a few missing pieces.

Otherwise, a typical James book - somehow funny graphic violence, the rest of the Mulvaneys played a big role, and clear set up for another series.
