This book explores what appears to be the relatively small (but growing) body of research into dog behaviour. It doesn't seek to be a training manual nor support our tendency to humanise dogs. I liked it all the more for that.

I learned that dogs are anthropologists and very good ones at that. I now constantly observe my dog watching me. And this often explains how they appear to anticipate us. If you like dogs I'd recommend it.

Not what I was expecting or looking for but I loved every minute of this book!! So informative and made me look at my own dog differently.

The book lacked a clear and concise voice and didn't really illuminate any surprising information.

The things I liked about this book, I really liked. It was written by someone who clearly has a deep affection for dogs and a real appreciation for how they are integrated into our lives. There is also some great research involved.

For whatever reason, though, it took my much longer to get through this book than it should have. Maybe it had repetitive elements. Maybe some of it was too dry. I'm not sure. But I was kind of rushing through it at the end.

Despite the seemingly lukewarm review, it was worth reading. Again, the parts of it that I liked will stick with me for a while. If you're curious about how dogs see us and the world around them, you might want to give it a read.

This was a great book. It was very interesting to learn what dogs experience in terms of science--but from a dog lover's point of view. Very interesting and warm. It made me want to reach out and scratch a dog belly!

This book gives a new and in depth understanding of what it must be like to be a dog. I'd recommend it to all dog lovers.

This book had some good information but was a bit of a challenge to read. It was almost a DNF but I kept going and I am glad I did.
