This book is such a treat! Laugh out loud funny in places and hard to put down. The machinations of Mapp and Lucia as they vie for control of the village are completely entertaining. Looking forward to other books in the series.

Got this from BBC ‘ A Good Read’ recommended by Giles Brandreth- not someone I’d usually follow. It’s a very dated book, all servants and privilege, but I actually enjoyed it

Got better towards the end but I didn't really warm to the characters.

When people talk about visiting a gay village I’m gonna assume this is what they mean.

Leisurely-paced and catty to the core, this is more social satire for fans of Jane Austen’s bitchy side characters than it is for fans of Benson’s contemporaries.

Cozy and snide and funny and sweet and ridiculous. Thoroughly enjoyable.
