When a crack in the earth releases a fog that turns anyone it touches homicidal, suicidal, or both, it is a race against time to destroy it before it consumes everyone in England. The set up of the narrative is masterfully crafted to make it a haunting tale that hangs around you. It makes you want to stop reading but also compels you to finish it.
