This book has a lot of great info about our gut, optimal food choices, and healthy habits. I was interested in it because I have IBS and can't seem to expand my low FODMAP diet to include any higher FODMAPs. I did not learn much new. After two years of learning about gut health it seems I do almost everything he suggests except I am not on an exclusively plant based diet. I do like how he includes asides on modifications for low FODMAP folks. He also ascribes to the theory that if you ramp up your fiber and only eat plants your gut will heal and you can eat more FODMAPS . Maybe? It seems he is preaching to those on a typical American diet (processed foods) and lifestyle (sedentary), which is not me.
I'd love to try his four week plan. But honestly, I would need a chef to take care of the buying and cooking for me. And this is from a person who loves food and cooking. I already focus far too much on food and this would consume my life for four weeks. Would be anxiety producing and not healthy for me.
What I think I will do is try to shift to more plants. And use some of his recipes. Maybe try week one. Maybe buy the cookbook that goes with this. We'll see...

Content wise I think this is a very important book to read - and I do believe that Dr. B is presenting everything in a very easy to digest (yeah sorry for that pun!) manner!
However, I would prefer some more bits of knowledge that empower me to not only follow his plan but fully understand the message and create my own plan. Saying this, I believe that it might just have not been aimed at me but at a slightly different population, that hasn't yet immersed themselves as much with WFPB foods and the whole FODMAP concept, that I am already rather familiar with.
Therefore in conclusion: Amazing book for some, and still a nice read for others!

The cliff notes is all you need. Conflicted by more as you dive deeper in the book, examples he uses and lack of other information

Initially very convincing, with lots of references to scientific papers and studies. However the writer gets lazier as the book goes on, and starts to contradict himself and use anecdotal evidence for some pretty big parts of his argument.
The plan itself is too prescriptive and as a competent cook, I would have preferred a guide of ingredients and what to increase when. I don't have the resources, time or patience to follow the plan as it is, and it's very hard to extrapolate what is actually changing and developing through the pages and pages of recipes.
The tone is unbearable by the end too!
I can't speak to the actual effectiveness of his plant based variety of fiber approach yet. However I *am* convinced by it and will be trying to take it on.

To be fair, this book is on my "abandoned" shelf because the library sucked it out of my Kindle before I finished reading it. I was enjoying the information. BUT, it's not necessarily good bedtime reading material. I will have to check out the book again when I have a bit more time to read and digest (ha!) the information.

This book has the potential to really change your life. For those wanting to do the meal plan- if cooking for one I recommend buying groceries 1-2 days at a time. The recipes make a lot of food it took me a month to eat all the recipes in week one.

Great book for people thinking about making the switch to a plant-based diet.

More diversity in my plant eating is needed. This is interesting, because it requires a lot of moving plants around the world to get such diversity in consumption. But I get it.
