Overview
For lovers of gritty medieval warfare, epic historical conflicts, and battle-hardened heroes (or those looking to bury their boots in the mud for the first time), come join this challenge!
This challenge is focused on medieval Europe, the legions of Ancient Rome, and dark fantasy, with a few extras for when you need a break.
Over the course of 40 books (or however many you make it through), we will trek through brutal historical fiction, high-stakes military campaigns, mercenary tales, and living by the sword or dying at the hand of a pen. If you enjoy the raw realism of conflict, political conspiring, and monstrous mayhem, this challenge is marching into battle 🏰🐎👢
How it Works
⚔️ Add your own! I’ve just included suggestions of what I’m planning to read, and some I’ve already read and truly loved (Essex Dogs definitely made the list more than once, I’m sure Wolves of Winter will creep up too).
⚔️ Read books that fit the themed prompts
⚔️ No strict rules — pick what excites you, and take your time! I made the challenge be long to encourage reading to enjoy and immerse. I don’t think it is fun to hurry through because you want to stay caught up.
⚔️ If a book fits two prompts, count it twice.
