The majority of this book was incredibly interesting and entertaining, it's very clear that the author has a deep love of horror and a great understanding of what tropes work well together to create an interesting story. That being said, whatever aspects of this book are dissecting the existence of women and feminism felt kind of clumsy to me. It felt like the author was dropping certain phrases or buzzwords in the book to appeal to people who like reading feminist horror without it actually being relevant or woven into the story well. I think if you were to look at it from a perspective of it's an entertaining horror book, it does its job wonderfully and that is what I'm basing my rating off of. However if you were to look at the book from a perspective of examining a woman's story and how society treats women at large, then I'd say you would be better off looking at something else, perhaps something written by a woman.
