Curves for Days by Laura Moher
Did not finish book. Stopped at 30%.
I really thought I was going to like this a mid-life romance, curvy FMC, small town, some hurt comfort. Also, once I started it I thought the lottery angle could have worked out really well. But I really couldn't get into it. I felt pretty early on that the characters weren't going to work for me. The FMC seems intensely traumatised and I can’t relate to this FMC at all.
Seriously the levels of internalised fat-phobia are off the charts. To the point it’s distracting from the story.
The MMC seems to be suffering from PTSD as well as some sort of complex where he feels the need to balance his presence in the world. It even impacts they way he looks as splitting a takeaway.
The pacing felt off to me, too slow, too many leading hints and comments from the characters that seemed to just go no where. I imagine someone who's more into it may really like it.
DNF @ 30%
