Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld

4.0

Don't enter the spill zone. After a weird incident three years ago, Poughkeepsie has never been the same--meat puppets populate the buildings, the animals have gone all wonky, and tornados of everyday objects hang in suspended motion. Despite those and other unknown dangers, Addison braves the quarantined zone to capture photos of these sci-fi wonders to sell on the black market. Every photo she sells helps to support her sister Lexa, who was in the zone when everything began but who, unlike their parents, survived.

When a satisfied client of Addison's comes to her with a proposal to retrieve something exceptional from the hospital where her parents worked, a place Addison swore she'd never go inside, she has to decide whether the million dollar reward is worth more than gambling with the zone's unearthly phenomena.
