Little Fox in the Forest by Stephanie Graegin

3.0

P cute, but I wanted more from this visual narrative, as someone who adores adores adores wordless storytelling.

I love how the bluescale color palette opens up into a rainbow of color to signify the shift from the human realm to the world of the animal characters. I love how the chalk drawings on the classroom board foreshadow the separation between dark-haired protagonist and fox stuffie.

But the plot I think was just not my favorite. Maybe because it vaguely reminded me of Labyrinth-lite and Akiko Miyakoshi's TEA PARTY IN THE WOODS? Anyone else get Dora the Explorer vibes with the sneaky weasel and character look of the protag? Maybe that's throwing me off.
