The City of the Living by Nicola Lagioia
4.75
I am sad I read this so quickly! Nicola Lagioia is amazing. This simultaneously a true story about a murder in Rome that's been fictionalized and autofiction about Nico. It's also quintessentially Roman. The way Lagioia writes about Rome is the way I've always felt about the city. Love that isn't returned. An almost abusive relationship. Great translation, as always, from Ann Goldstein. I'm not really a true crime person, but this was done so well and with care to the victim, the perpetrators, and their families and friends.
