Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield
5.0
This book is an achingly beautiful portrayal of grief, loss and disconnect. Leah goes in a mission on the submarine for 3 weeks, but instead is gone for 6 months, but when she return's into her wife's arms, she's "wrong".
If I'd say it's a horror, you'd probably have different expectations of what this books is about, instead I'd rather say that the pages develop into a slow and existential dread of what's to come.
The beautiful prose sucked me into the lives of Miri and Leah, who felt as human to me as you and I. I still ache for them, hours after closing the last page.
