I can't believe I haven't read this sooner. I tend to put off reading the novels I am most excited about and then when I love them, I'm annoyed I didn't read them sooner. I had tried to read this a few years ago but at that point I hadn't read many classics yet so I found it a little dense and overwhelming - I actually never got past the initial letters and it's only now that I look back and see how important they were to setting up the novel!!
The fact Mary Shelley wrote this novel when she was 19!!!! is insane. The prose is both beautiful and utterly heartbreaking. I can't believe 'Frankenstein' isn't even the name of the creation, the creation doesn't even have a name!!!!! Never have I ever felt so attached to a character like I have the creation - I rooted for him despite all. His perspective absolutely killed me -the way he explained his first few nights of existence and the way he observed a family and tried to be kind to them but was seen as nothing more than an abomination of nature, broke! my! heart!
I'm not a major fan of re-reading books, I have enough on my to-read list as it is, however, this novel is one of those that I can say I will 100% re-read in the future, probably many times.

"Am I to be thought the only criminal when all human kind sinned against me?"
