Well that took forever. While I enjoyed the story itself rushdie has a habit of using too many references, many obscure, that draw your attention away from the characters rather than towards them. it was frankly a little plodding because of it. ironically, (once you read it you will understand) it would make a great movie. perhaps this was an attempt to make it so.
