Not her best work for sure. Admittedly, I don't know that much about building, but I just don't find it believable that two people who are fairly unfamiliar with construction can build a house by watching youtube videos and reading books. Sure, Helen's father was a builder and she helped him out a lot as a kid, but it does not make her an expert builder by any means.
Leaving that aside, I found the story gripping and not too predictable. However, I felt let down at the end, as I thought the whole sub-plot with Dicky Barns was weak and unnecessary.Nothing explained the phone call Olive overheard or why it was made into such a big deal, nor did I understand why Riley was playing Hattie to that whole group. It just made no sense to me how that was happening while Barns supposedly had no idea about Lori.
