The Good Part by Sophie Cousens

5.0

Based on the description I was expecting a silly little rom-com full of goofy hijinks and humorous takes on "omg I woke up and now I'm an adult."

And yes, there is an element of that but there's also some truly heartfelt (and heartbreaking) moments. There's exploration of the serious aspect of having 16 years of your life gone. You're living with strangers. You don't know how to drive your car, work the washing machine, let alone how to do your job. How do you be a wife and mum to a family you didn't have the day before?

Frankly, I don't know if I would have loved the book as much as I did if it went straight down the comedy route. It feels more real the way it's written. I won't spoil the ending but I will say that I didn't know how I wanted it to end. And to me, that's a mark of some good storytelling.

Thank you Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for my honest review.
