Politics On the Edge: A Memoir from Within by Rory Stewart

emotional informative sad medium-paced

5.0

Politics on the Edge was a book I've wanted to read for a really long time. I found it a fascinating insight into the political system, particularly during a turbulent time. It was incredibly hard to listen to the rise of Johnson and the cowardice and self-interest of a lot of our MPs but hardly surprising. I found his work in prisons and international aid particularly fascinating. The book itself is well written and whilst there's the occasional bit which is slightly self-grandiose, Stewart can laugh at himself and acknowledge his own weaknesses which is a rare quality in most people, let alone politicians.
