Map of Bones by James Rollins
5.0
As usual, James Rollins delivered an exciting and twisting adventure melding science and historical questions that is so hard to put down! Seeing that I read the Sigma Force books out of order I have the good pleasure of seeing characters and relationships unfold that I expect which made this tale even more rewarding. Looking forward to the next one for sure!
The Last Night by Mark Dunn
5.0
Without a doubt this was an awesome read!
Typically when I hear that a story contains vampires, I immediately think Twilight (which I have not watched by the way) and I then leave it on the shelf. When I started reading The Last Night and realized that it contained vampires, I was surprised that I did not get that same stereotype stuck in my mind.
No, instead, Mark Dunn created something that for all intents and purposes is a vampire but comes off real and terrifying. I found myself wanting to know more, intrigued by the character (all of them really), by the conflict.
It's a terrific story with some gruesome details that will keep you turning the page desperate to know what happens next. And, you might be surprised what you find! The simple point is, you need to read The Last Night!

Roko's Basilisk: A Roko Event Short Story by Michael Blackbourn

I love stores about artificial intelligence so naturally this was going to be enjoyable. Michael's story is different than what I'm used to though. That's a good thing though. I love the subtle explanations of cool new technologies and the way he explains the not-so-benign AI.
