Very simply written and the story is beautiful. The whole story takes place in Karnataka. A girl named Mridula comes from a remote village named Aladahalli. She gets to meet a boy who is a practicing doctor in her friends marriage. The boy falls in love with Mridula for her open-ness, innocence and beauty. He proposes her thru' a letter. After a while, she agrees and they get married. The story takes many twists after they get married. You should read it to find how Mridula accomodates herself from that innocence to where people are so mechanical in cities..

Story runs in a remote Afghanistan village. Between 2 best friends. Turns out that 1 friend is a really really close relative to him. That friend who comes to know that he is a really really close relative to him will feel guilty about how he treated him in their childhood. You should read the book to know about how he makes up to that guilty feeling. I love the narrative style Khaled Hosseini. Must read. Carry tissues if you are too sensitive.

No doubt that she is entitled as 'Queen of Crime'.

The story holds the suspense till the last 3 pages of the book. Every character seems suspicious yet they cannot be suspected. Tommy and Tuppence played their part very well as detectives for England during the war. Well, what can i say? A must read for suspense lovers. :)
