Very gripping read but gets a bit self indulgent at the end

I’m not generally one for politically bios but this is brilliant. Brexit upset me and at the time Rory Stewart seemed to be the only person making any sense. Since then I’ve enjoyed his political podcast The Rest Is Politics with Alistair Campbell. How he managed to climb onto that political ladder was very interesting but one thing that amazed me was how much he managed to pack into his life- all that energy to get things done….in the right way, with rigour and thoughtfulness. On top of that that he seemed to find the time to go on ultra walking expeditions….. and enjoy a family life! Heavens, made me feel a bit lazy :-)
It’s a very well written book with lots of interesting insider stories……some a bit depressing in terms of the workings of parliament and the state of our democracy.
