Gone Pecan
Jeremy Bridges is cat nip. Handsome, smart, aloof and RICH, RICH, RICH. As the owner of a software company, he could be the target of people trying to take advantage of him or physically hurt him. Bernadette is his body guard; ex-military, smart, sharp & quick with the sarcasm. She’s worked for him for years (and been both attracted and repelled by him) and has been privy to his rather unappealing accumulation of women.
One night, after a black-tie affair ends again with Jeremy taking home a woman (who Bernie is suspicious of), Bernie’s sense of duty won’t allow her to simply leave him to his games. Something’s not right. She’s proven correct when she stumbles upon Jeremy being held at gunpoint by the woman he brought home, and she has help on the way. Jeremy and Bernie frantically make way to his “panic” room and are stuck there until the police arrive.
In such a tension filled encounter, Bernadette quits rather suddenly because she can no longer take Jeremy’s unwillingness to listen to her even though she is good at her job and is proven to be right. One thing leads to another and they have angry, passionate sex in the panic room. And she walks away…
Only to return a couple of months later, pregnant and wanting his signature on documents releasing him from responsibility. Jeremy balks at this. This would be the perfect opportunity for Bernie to take advantage of him and wring him for every cent he’s worth. But she surprises him. Based on his childhood, she doesn’t think he will make a good father, and Bernie wants her child to have the kind of loving father she had and she’ll settle for nothing less. But it’s Jeremy’s turn with the surprise. He won’t give up his child. He thinks he can do better than his father did.
So the two of them embark on this journey, trying to learn to trust each other. This story is almost like a fairy tale. It’s actually quite funny and pretty sexy, but the handsome prince falls in love with the plain commoner. I really liked both characters, Jeremy was funny, Bernie was tough and they were both vulnerable. It was not a stretch for them to end up together.

This is a romance of opposites attract. Bernie was like a martyr trying to take responsibility for all. Her pregnancy makes Jeremy realize that he wants some connections in life and becomes responsible by changing some of his ways. Its a fun book and was a delight to watch these wonderful characters get their HEA

Bodyguard Bernadette Bernie Hogan has had enough of her playboy millionaire client Jeremy Bridges. When he puts his life in danger and ignores her instructions, her temper flares ending in a night of passion and her walking out on him. Several weeks later, Bernie finds that their one night could tie them together forever but fearing that he will continue to take life for granted she devises a plan to keep him out of hers. When Jeremy finds out Bernie is pregnant he couldn't be happier. Bernie is unlike any woman he has been with but he has a short amount of time to prove to her that he is a man she can respect and will be a fantastic father. His only hurdle is showing her the man beneath the facade.

I really enjoy novels by Graves. She writes fun, contemporary romances. This was another great read.

Hmm... Hmmm... Let me put it this way: weak combination from Miss Congeniality, Two weeks notice and something else I can't quite call to mind right now. Unlikable characters, weakly developed events. Not good. I gave this book 3 just cause I liked the main general idea. And the sex scene at the beginning? I got a picture about two man making love, not male and female... That's definitely not good.

This one started out rough with a male lead who was such an infuriating jackass that he really seemed irredeemable. I still think his redemption was a little too easy, but the book ended up being fun and made me chuckle a time or two so I'll allow it.

I fell in love with this story pretty quick. Normally this type of story line can fall in the "campy" category but I was happily surprised to find it didn't go there. Employee has a one night stand with Uber rich playboy type, she gets pregnant, refuses his money but he inserts himeself in her life.
I have read these stories where the characters are so selfish and their motivations make no sense. In the beginning I wanted to konk their heads together, not because they would fall in love, but becasue they weren't really listening to each other.
The dialogue was funny, no dwelling on personal hang ups. (when characters repeat their fears in their internal monologue a bazillion times), humor, and enough heartstring pulls to get me through.
Side note my sister recenlty had twins and I work in a hospital, there were a few tidbits about the pregnancy that were inacurate, but made for a good story.
Definitly going to check out some other Jane Graves

This was a book I won off of Goodreads. I had never read this author before but thought that it might make a good "beach read". I have to say that I really liked it. The characters were well developed. The story had a good pacing so that you didn't get bored. While the ending was predictable (as most books are), it didn't make you want to stop reading. You really wanted to root for Jeremy and Bernadette, hoping that the good guy would win out in the end. I will definitely try out her other books.
