I Accidentally Hooked Up with a Vampire by Jessica Cage
5.0
I had such a great time with this book. I think it was better than the first one. I loved Rayna and Matice from book one but Whitney and her girlfriends Jackie and Lena and the hot AF Domino put this over the top!
Of course I love me a good vampire story but having friends like Jackie and Lena and a crazy demon cat makes for a bunch of laughs.
Whitney thought she was getting a promotion but she goes in to get fired. She’s an art collector. She had just gotten a new place beautiful furniture thinking she was getting this promotion so she puts on a fake face to go support her friend Lena, who is an author to go to an event where she meets this beautiful tall, sexy man named Domino.
The spice was so HOT!!! Omg! I am telling you guys if you have a book club of girlfriends get together grab your drinks and read this together and have a blast!
And if you have not read the first book, I accidentally summoned a demon go read that first. You don’t have to because these can be read as a standalone, but it’s so much more fun because the first couple does make an appearance in the second book.
I am enjoying the series and I hope to continue if she continues writing more of the Accidently series.

Keep Me by Sara Cate

This is my first time reading a book by Sara Cate. It’s the rest of her books are written like this then I’m a fan! There is not one time that I didn’t love what was happening in this book!
Killian’s grumpiness and Sylvie’s fierceness! It was crazy enemy, two lovers and marriage of convenience gold! absolutely loved the banter between the two… there in Scotland, so Killian kept calling her a cow or a wench lol.
Although this was so funny and well written, the spice was so good! Yes, it was fire!
I was not ready for this book to end and I will say that I listened to this on Hoopla along with my e-book and the narrators were fantastic my only wish was that it would’ve been 10 times better if it was done in duet narration because these narrators were amazing!
I can’t wait to read more from this author !

The Path to Loving Him by Meghan Quinn

Ahhhhhhh!!! This is why I love the single dad trope so much! For stories like these. Ryland isn’t even supposed to be a dad. He’s raising his sister Cassidy‘s daughter because she passed away from cancer. All the Mac moments tore my heart up and the narration, the way Samantha Brentmoore did Mac’s voice was the cutest thing ever.
So Gabby, yes I love her. She speaks her mind and doesn’t hold back. That is the FMC type that I love. Everybody has a flaw right so she had a horrible relationship, and she had a horrible childhood, but she helped her brother Bennett become the great baseball player that he was and just waiting for him to go pro. She sacrificed a lot of her self for this to happen. Strong FMC for the win.
Ryland is definitely grumpy sunshine, but he’s a big teddy bear because of the way he loves Mac and the way he loves and protects his family. But OMG the chemistry between Gabby and Ryland was unreal and so perfect!! I was absolutely here for it! The way they could not keep their hands off each other was fire!
The epilogue broke me…PERIOD!
Sidenote: with that epilogue I feel like the series is complete, but are we getting a story for Bennett and Bower?! Because I agree with Ryland Bennett was checking her out and got flustered with her and I know that’s an age gap trope which I love as well.

Beneath the Stars by Emily McIntire

I am so glad I ended up reading this book. I didn’t know this was a re-release and I had read a review that obliterated this book 4 years ago. It came up on my Libby and I decided to give it a shot.
It was a lot of what I have read before and so it was enjoyable. I really hate the miscommunication trope, especially when all it takes is a simple clarification by a phone, text, letter or in your face.
I was disappointed in the FMC because she is a pretty tough person. Telling ppl exactly how she feels…no filter. But the moment Chase’s sister expresses her feelings to her about their relationship or when his college friend flat out shows her true color, she says nothing to the one person that needed to know. Also, I feel like the MMC gave up too fast. Knowing that she was going through a devastating time, he could have given her space and explained himself to her or his best friend…etc
You love coming of age romance? This is definitely for you and I recommend it.

Ruthless Creatures by J.T. Geissinger

The duet narration on this is incredible. It’s what kept me going on this book. It is a great story, I love the plot. But as soon as I heard that the husband was missing and nobody was found, I kind of predicted what was gonna happen.
Now who exactly Cage was and who he worked for…all those details, were not predictable. being sent for a job and not following through what happened or what was gonna happen after that again was predictable.
That’s the only reason why I didn’t give this a four star is because I could predict how the story was going to go more or less.
When I was looking for mafia romance, I did turn to booktok, and this series was highly rated probably one of the most recommended on the videos but sadly, I think this was overhyped. That is not to say that I would not recommend it because I absolutely would. Especially for the audio because the spice was HOT!
I just wouldn’t hype it up as much. I do want to read the second book because I am interested in Sloane’s story.

Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan
4.0
Ahhh yes, we finally get Iris‘s cousinLotus’ story. I have been wanting her story since the book one which is longshot. Kenan is a single dad and that’s one of my favorite tropes.
Kenan was an absolute dream. He definitely had the patience of a saint to put up with his ex and all her drama.
His ex Bridgett was a nightmare, trying to blame Keenan for her, having an affair with his teammate on his absence. Yet she had an affair with his TEAMMATE! Who… Hello has the same schedule as her at the time, husband?
And now she wants to be on a reality show dishing out all their business. Well that puts a strain on their daughter and still when something drastic happens to their daughter she wants to blame Keenan.
Lotus has a special storyline something that I can relate to so please check your trigger warning because you deal with childhood SA. But again Kennedy, Ryan does this in a beautiful way where you deal with counseling sisterhood with other survivors so once again it’s beautifully written.
Lotus is the actual adult and because she understands what the absence of a parent can mean stands up to both Kenan and Bridget and steps back until Simone. their daughter can deal with the new relationship.
Bravo to this author, I just love her writing!

One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake

If you love the Romeo and Juliet vibe, and a book written like a screenplay… I think you would definitely enjoy this story. It is that in modern Day, New York, but it’s a fantasy because you’re dealing with witches and fae.
We have the Antonova family, who is all women. You have the Fedorov family all men. These two families coexisted just fine for 12 years until one of them feel disrespected and decides to take action against the other family.
You have star-crossed lovers, romance, and you have tragedy. Me personally I enjoyed everything about this book. I love how you could go back and they would tell the story of each character and how they became or put in the position that they are now.
I especially enjoyed the story of the romance that could not be and the blooming Romance that was happening today.
Was in a weird ending I wouldn’t say weird but confusing but so a lot Shakespearean plays that I read… at least with this book we had an epilogue that explained some.
I loved it!

Take A Deep Breath: A Dark Romance by L. Taylor, L. Taylor

Fast paced and great spice!
Interesting story. I got the movie Enough vibes. But this was actually a lot worse and what I mean by that is the abuse was worst, not the story. My heart broke for the women in this family. For all they were put through they really needed a win.
Michael is a monster in the worst way and so is Annie’s father.
I won’t say that Casey is a sweetheart, but what I will say is he is exactly what Annie and her family needed. Her night and shining armor.
The story is a bit fast paced but still a great read. And the spice OMG so hot, but please check your trigger warnings!!!
