Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan

Kennedy Ryan has the ability to crush my heart and put it back together again and she does it beautifully. Her ability to write a character that relates to me and I get connected to that character is a talent like the other.

I love Banner. She is how I saw myself when I was in school very insecure about weight, but what I loved about her is that she did not allow that to deter her from her goals. She gave herself power with the knowledge that she had and became a beloved sports agent. Living in a man’s world, she was able to best them at their own game.

Jared is another breed, but I still love him. He says exactly how he feels and it’s never sorry for it and it could come off rude and selfish and you would think that to turn off but it’s really not at least not in the story.

There is so many reasons that I was broken during the story because Banner being as great as she was, she was loved by two men, and I didn’t want her to have to choose because I loved both men for her.

I highly recommend this book!

I won’t say that I didn’t enjoy the tension between Hattie and Hayes because I most certainly did. It made for some great chemistry in the bedroom. Especially leading up to that.

Let me just point out some of the things I did not enjoy in this particular book: I felt like Hattie was crying all the time if it wasn’t about her siblings, it was about Hayes.  I have to chalk it up with her being the of
the family and she was just so used to getting all the attention from Cassidy.

Hayes is a different story. He was an asshole from the beginning. I think it would be beyond grumpy sunshine, but once he let his true feelings come through for Hattie he was much better and he started
to grow on me,
but then his mom comes into town and he’s asshole all over again,

but that’s not what bothered me because I understand the reason why.
What threw me off is him being surprised that Hattie was upset and had been crying over him after all the ugly things he had said to her. I’m like really dude you expect her to be all sunshine and roses after the way you treated her of course she was upset. Of course she got depressed. Of course she was crying, but he acted Surprised.

That’s what bumped down my rating, but I always love Meghan Quinn‘s books and if she makes me feel this way yelling at the characters, it’s a great read, but I am going to grade it to how it made me
I would still reread this but I did want to punch Hayes in the face. Lol

Finally, we get to love guru story, Everett Kingsman. I thought it was so cute how he tried to hide his feelings and basically kind of play Cyrano or the love coach for Penelope. This one had a lot more body shaming or fat, shaming, and fat phobia than the other books. It was a bit of a hard read for me some of the things that were being said and done, but of course there’s a happily ever after.
With Trixie and Willa and Kelsey, I didn’t get the sense of them being so uncomfortable with their body as much as Penelope was and with her being such a champion for Kelsey and her being around for all the stories or all the love stories, I didn’t like how she have confidence for herself, especially from a Kingsman.
You get a sense that the whole family understands, loving someone’s body and seeing them from the inside out and seeing their true beauty was because of the example their mother set for them.
I also like that, this ran parallel to book 3, the pussy which is Hayes and Willa’s story.

Overall, I enjoyed all of these books, but book 3 was my favorite.

OK, so just like the author says in the beginning of these books, these are fluff, fun pieces and she doesn’t disappoint.

What I love about these books is that it involves a plus size woman who is being  pursued by an athlete type man who finds her beautiful, even if she struggles with loving herself or what we call fat phobia.

I find it beautiful, it is nice to see that it’s not your model type woman who can get the guy.
Hayes and Willa have a huge challenge because they find each other attractive and have so much in common but he’s an athlete on a team close to home and she loves to travel and doesn’t s want to stay in Denver. I will say that I was disappointed how Willa’s mother treated her.

These have all been fun to read so far. I have enjoyed the writing style. I have enjoyed the banter. I have absolutely enjoyed the spice.
This one might be my favorite so far.

I can’t wait for the next one!

This is the slowest burn book that I have read to date. I will say I enjoyed every bit of this.
You have
  • employee to Boss
  • marriage of convenience
  • body shaming
  • inspiration
  • friendship
  • Slow burn
  • Grumpy sunshine
  • Unintentional rags to riches
  • Sports romance
The narrators were amazing. I have ordered the book and once I have it, I will do a reread so that I can highlight quotes and parts of the book that I felt inspired and hopeful.

This was a relisten with Buddy reading with book Bestie, Stacy. I still feel the same way. I did the first time I read this book. I still get emotional with how Alexis was treated. Her father talks down to her. She is humiliated and abuse verbally by her ex. The way her mother just sits back and allows her father to berate her and treat her like a child when she has accomplished so much is really sad. I love the way Daniel treats her even though he’s 10 years younger he’s more of a man and he’s wiser than the pricks who are closest to her, and that includes who she thought of as her friends, not Bri, but the rest of the girls.
Doug is one of my favorite characters. I just love him. Touching on stories of abuse, physical and verbal is something that I have experienced and I have seen with others so this touched my heart.

a very unique plot. I’m typically not into sapphic romance but this was different as it dealt with Leto who had feelings for Melantho and developed feelings for Mathias and in the end, this was so sad.

The narrators were amazing. The way Leto acted in a lot of this story did frustrate me because she refused to LISTEN. Both she and Melantho had a plan and refused to see it any other way.

Mathias was beautiful. He never wanted to hurt any of the women that he had to sacrifice for Poseidon. He hated the curse and yet Leto made him the monster. She didn’t know what he had to sacrifice. She didn’t know that he was avidly looking for a way to break the curse. And what he did in the end was so beautiful…I cried.

I almost felt like the way it ended  Leto deserved in a way. I am shocked at how much I enjoyed the story I like I said it was very unique and very interesting.

Catherine Cowles does suspenseful romance beautifully. I get so involved with the characters when I’m reading her books. My heart goes out to victims, as if they’re my best friends. I really connect with these characters. Always has me at the edge of my seat.

I loved the chemistry between Colt and Ridley. Mostly because Ridley is very tough and a little spitfire. She’s not gonna let the sheriff of the small town get in her way. But she does it with a good heart. What I mean by that is she has good intentions for doing what she does. It’s not to be malicious.

I loved all the characters, and I’m not sure if this is a series but if it is, I can’t wait for the next one !

this story was sad and beautiful. It felt so real. These are truly lost boys who find comfort in each other and try to stand up and be there for each other as much as they can with all being lost and broken and some kind of way.

Fighting for a better life and I love that it just didn’t end in that happily ever after that they made millions of dollars and got away from everything but it left it like they were striving for that but no matter what they had love and they were safe. That is what truly mattered.
